- kevev a écrit:
- Hello all. I have had bad reception on my Wizard just like everyone else. I have also read the scary post on the Howard Forums describing how to do surgery on the antenna. The hack is proven to work, but I was still scared about voiding my waranty. Well I whiped up a safer way to fix the antenna issue. I have attached pics to help others implement my fix.
Supplies needed--> Aluminum Foil Clear Tape Scissors Good Pair of Eyes
Cut a single layer piece of Aluminum Foil that matches the larger, left side of the antenna. If you look closely at the stock antenna you will see 2 indentions in the copper where the contact pins from the phone touch. Make sure that your foil only reaches far enough to cover the left indention and not the right one. The right pin will still use the stock antenna. Now cover the Foil with Clear Tape almost completely. (One layer should be fine) The only part that will not be covered by tape is the right corner facing out (Circled in Red below). The back side of that corner has to be covered with Clear Tape to prevent shorting antennas. Which is the flaw we are trying to alleviate.
Front Side
Back Side
Place 2 rolled pieces of Clear Tape on the original antenna. This will secure the Foil antenna to the stock antenna.
Carefully place the Foil antenna on the stock antenna. Make sure the Foil antenna does not cover the Camera Lens, or the rubber plug.(Its easier to remove the rubber plug before re-assembly) The most important part is to make sure that the right corner of the Foil is covering the left indention completely and is not near the right indention. Now carfully re-assemble the phone and check your reception.
If the antennas make correct contact and are not shorting out you will have excellent reception. This mod will not void your waranty like the surgery mod as long as you remove the Foil antenna before sending your Wizard in for waranty work/replacement. Also the Cingular Radio Rom 2.5.11 helps alot. I recomend installing it along with this mod.

| merci du partage, l'idée parait séduisante mais à l'usage les avis sont mitigés ... merci par avance à tous les courageux qui essaieront ce bricolage ! | |
